California threatens to launch its own climate change satellite in defiance of Donald Trump

California Governor Jerry Brown has already emerged as one of the leading voices in the American resistance against Donald Trump, and now he’s making specific threats against the so called “president-elect.” Even as Trump picks one climate change denier after another for his historically unsuitable cabinet, and seems intent on eliminating the satellites that monitor climate change, Brown is threatening to have California launch its own climate satellites. And he’s doing so in emphatic fashion.

“If Trump turns off the satellites, California will launch its own damn satellite,” the enormously popular California Governor has announced, according to the Sacramento Bee newspaper. He added “We’ve got the scientists, we’ve got the lawyers and we’re ready to fight.”

Governor Jerry Brown may not be overstating the matter. According to Bloomberg News, the state of California surpassed France earlier this year to become the world’s sixth largest economy, giving it more economic power than most nations. Brown also took some direct shots at Rick Perry of Texas, who was last seen flailing on Dancing With The Stars and is now being picked as Trump’s Secretary of Energy: “California is growing a hell of a lot faster than Texas. And we’ve got more sun than you have oil.” If you enjoy Daily News Bin, consider making a contribution:
