Now that mainstream Americans increasingly view Donald Trump as a menace to society due to his violent and racist campaign for President, one story after another is trickling out about how much hate he’s privately elicited in years past. It turns out the Rolling Stones were so wary of being seen with Trump, they refused to let him into the building their Atlantic City concert was taking place in. And when he showed up before the gig anyway, Keith Richards pulled out a knife and threatened to run him off.
The Stones were so adamant about not being publicly associated with Donald Trump that they only agreed to play the venue adjacent to his hotel if he was nowhere on the premises that night. Trump agreed, but then he showed up and began conducting a press conference anyway. The band’s rep chased him away, but he came back later and resumed taking questions. When guitarist Keith Richards learned what was going on, he pulled out his knife and threatened to take care of business himself if Trump didn’t leave. Once the message was relayed to Trump that a knife-wielding Keith Richards was involved, Trump left. But the story gets even weirder.
Some of Trump’s bodyguards pulled out brass knuckles, looking for a fight. According to the promoter for the tour, Rolling Stones security guards then grabbed “tire irons and hockey sticks and screwdrivers” and chased away Trump’s crew. How much of this story is hyperbole? We’ll never know for sure. And certainly we don’t condone any form of violence. But the very picture of a knife-weilding Keith Richards running Trump out of a Stones show is bound to bring a few smiles. If you enjoy Daily News Bin, consider making a contribution:
